Pasquale J. Guliano, 69, retired Derby Police Chief, of Derby, passed Aug. 14, 2009, after a long illness.
He was the husband of Joan Wakeman Guliano. They were married for 47 years.
Born in Derby March 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Pasquale J. and Viola Baldelli Guliano.
Pat graduated Derby High School in 1958 then entered the United States Marine Corps.
Soon after his discharge in 1965, Pat became a Derby Police officer.
After many years as a patrolman, Pat became Youth officer, a position he held until his promotion to Police Chief. In 1993 he retired as Chief of Police.
Pat was a former member of the Hotchkiss Hose Company, a former member of the Sons of Italy, and the AM Club in Derby.
Pat held a special place in his heart for the mentally handicapped and ran a recreational program at VARCA.
He was also a Special Olympics coach. Shortly after he and his business partner opened Pathfinders Associates Inc.. He was an avid boater for many years until Pat traded his boat for an RV (motor home) and for many years he and Joan traveled the country together.
Besides his wife Joan of Derby, he is survived by his sons Mark, his wife Christine, their children Ashleigh and Trevor Guliano of Derby, Pasquale, his wife Adrienne, their sons Joseph and Lucas Guliano of Washington Depot, CT, and his daughter Kim Timpko and her children Sarah and Greg Timpko of Derby. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Gregory J. Timpko.
Friends may call on Monday, Aug. 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby.
On Tuesday, friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Derby.
Interment will be in Mt. St. Peters Cemetery in Derby.
