Patricia Ann (Sostak) Barry

Born on February 18, 1940, in Danbury, CT, Patricia was the daughter of the late Frank and Philomena (Ross) Sostak. Patricia was a long time resident of Bridgeport before moving to Shelton in 1994.

Patricia graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing and had a fulfilling career primarily in the field of geriatrics and in nursing management after working years on the 11pm-7am shift. No matter what, she always made sure that there was

food on the stove before she got her rest. She retired from the City of Bridgeport having worked at the Dinan Center and then as Director of Nursing at Bishop Wicke in Shelton until she retired in 2005.

Known for her unwavering love and commitment to Jesus and family. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her and would do anything she could for them. She also had a special bond with her daughter in laws. And, you can bet, she had a nickname for all of us.

Her life was a true testament of her faith in God. Patricia was very devoted to her Catholic Faith. She was a daily communicant for many years and she lived out the Gospel message of caring for the poor and needy by regularly donating to the St. Vincent DePaul food bank, volunteering many hours making Rosary Beads so that they could be sent to needy areas of the world and praying without ceasing for family and friends.

Patricia loved to cook and spend as much time with her grandchildren. She also loved to read, do 1000 piece puzzles, no puzzle was too big. She enjoyed the cooking channel and game shows.

Patricia is the beloved mother of Vincent Barry (Annelie Lindvall), Kristin Barry, Richard Barry (Mary) and loving grandmother of Liam, Griffin, Alyssa, Sydney, Linnea and Anya. And, many she adopted” along the way. She was Mom” to everyone.

She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Sostak.

On Saturday, Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
