Patrick Edward Lydon, born in Bridgeport CT Aug. 2, 1947, son of Edward B. Lydon.of Baltimore and Ida (Sterbinsky) Lydon of Stratford 

Pat grew up in Stratford, CT and attended UConn and University of Bridgeport. A member of Beta Sigma Gamma fraternity at UConn, he met his wife Caroline E. (Essie) White there. In 1970 they married. Moving to Oxford, CT in 1978 they renovated one of the town’s historic houses. Pat was pleased and proud to share with visitors the historic construction and architectural elements of their 1770s home. 

Employed by General DataComm from 1972 to 1989, he moved from location to location with them as the computer processor company grew. Pat was an engineer by disposition but an entrepreneur at heart. He owned the Colonial Gas Station and Convenience Store on Rte 34 in Seymour until selling it in 2009. He also owned several Subway restaurants in Seymour and Derby which he sold, more recently he owned two in Waterbury.

A huge UConn Lady Huskies fan, he followed news of them off season and loved rewatching their victories on the Internet. Pat and his wife sheltered over half a dozen state foster sons while his own sons were growing up. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 30 years and gave a hand, and sometimes a roof, to many adults he met along his way.

Pat is survived by his wife of 47 years plus his sons and their families: Tim (Natalie, Aidan and Jillian Lydon) of Orange CT, Ned and Melissa (Mikayla, Jonah and Noah Lydon) of Waterbury, CT and Jason and Meredith (Scarlett, Hunter and Sienna Lydon) of New Jersey. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Leopold of FL and her children Jaison, Lynne and Tracey.

Pat’s wife and sons would like to thank the caring staff at the Masonicare ACU in Wallingford for their support for the entire family over the past few days. A memorial service will he held at 2 p.m. on Saturday,July 29 at Oxford Congregational Church, Rte 67 in Oxford.
