Paul Brushitis

Paul Brushitis, 93, entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2016, at Gardner Heights Health Care in Shelton. He was the beloved husband of the late Adeline Senese Brushitis.

Mr. Brushitis was born in Derby on July 14, 1922, son of the late Michael and Eunice Brushitis. A lifelong resident of Derby, he was employed at American Brass and later as a heavy equipment operator for the State of Connecticut Highway Department for thirty years. Following his retirement, he worked as a groundskeeper at Orange Hills Golf Course. Paul was a proud fifty year member of Paugassett Hook and Ladder Co #4 in Derby and a member of the Sons of Italy in Derby and Central Subalpi Club in Ansonia. A communicant of St. Mary Church in Derby, he was a cook at the annual festival.

He is survived by nephews, John Brushitis and his wife Shirley of Seymour and James Brushitis and his wife Gail of Beacon Falls, a niece, Rita Marchelletta of Southbury and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John and Steven Brushitis and a sister Mary Jackimchuk.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday January 20, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Mary Church in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting will take place on WEDNESDAY MORNING from 9:30 am until the procession leaves for church in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
