Paul G. Peterson

Paul G. Peterson, age 82, of Shelton, entered into rest on Friday September 20, 2013 in the Hewitt Memorial Hospital in Shelton. He is the devoted husband of 62 years to Agnes(Doherty) Peterson. 

Mr. Peterson was born in Stamford on November 24, 1930, son of the late Albin and Elin (Johnson) Peterson, and was a Stamford resident for most of his life before moving to Shelton 15 years ago.

Mr. Peterson was an Army Veteran serving his country in the Korean Conflict, and then went on to a 28 year career with the Stamford Police Department, rising to the rank of Lieutenant. During his career at the Police Department he was one of the founders of the Bomb Squad, and was Captain of the Scuba Team, and was a founder and board member of the Stamford Ambulance Corp. Paul went on to a second career as a carpenter for the Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan for over 12 years until he retired in 2000.

He is the beloved father of Paul Peterson and his wife Teresa, Donald Peterson, and his wife Agnes, Gary Peterson and his wife Carol, Kim Sabatino,and her husband Ken, Thomas Peterson and his wife Karen, Terri O’ Connor, and her husband Eamon, and Sharon Bannon and her husband Brendan. He also leaves 14 cherished grandchildren,and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Rudolph Peterson, and his sister Alice Jarrell.

Friends may greet his family on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home .390 River Road Shelton. On Wednesday family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave. in the Huntington Center section of Shelton. Burial will be private on Thursday in Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery Stamford. 

At the request of his family memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
