Paul J. Blasavage, age 70, entered into eternal rest in the early morning hours of April 11, 2020, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved companion of twenty years to Norma Pastorella D’Amico of Derby.
Paul was born in Waterbury CT, on September 9, 1949, son of the late John and Margaret Blasavage. A resident of Derby for twenty years, he was employed at Beaverdale Memorial Park in New Haven, for thirty-eight years, retiring as a foreman. Paul was an avid golfer, voracious reader and enjoyed vacationing in St. Maarten each year. He also enjoyed spending his time outside gardening and planting flowers.
In addition to Norma, he leaves to cherish his memory, loving sons, Adam Blasavage (Gloribelle) of Hamden and Kyle Blasavage of Maine, brothers, Eugene Blasavage (Pamela), Edward Blasavage (Ursula) and George Blasavage, sisters, Margaret Domnick, and Elenore Domnick, cherished grandchildren, Joaquin Blasavage and Mateo Blasavage both of Hamden and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul also left to cherish his memory, Norma’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, the Carr family, the Curtis family, the Carey family, the Klapcik family, the Pimenta family, and the Taylor family. He was predeceased by a brother, John Blasavage, and a sister, Irene Kailukaitis.
At this time, the family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Orell, and the staff at the Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven Ct, for all their hard work, dedication, comfort, and support! In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Paul can be made to the Closer to Free Fund, which jointly supports Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and Yale Cancer Center.
Please make checks payable to Closer to Free Fund and mail to P.O. Box 1849, New Haven, CT 06508. Please include the honoree’s name on the memo line. Secure online gifts can be made at http://www.giveclosertofree.org.
