Paul Martin Cooke of Ansonia died peacefully on Monday May 13, 2019 at Newtown Rehabilitation where he was in residence this past year.
He was the fourth son of Thomas and Sophie Cooke of North State Street in Ansonia, both deceased.
Two of his older brothers, John and Terrence, both of Ridgefield, passed before him. His brother Tony, Tony’s wife Mimi, and sisters-in law Torrey and Marcia Cooke, both of Ridgefield, along with nine nephews and nieces, survive him.
Paul’s mother and father were instrumental in creating VARCA, a safe place of development for both mentally and physically challenged clients. Paul was at VARCA until he began working for Stop and Shop where he worked for 25 years, as well as working at his brother Terry’s business.
Although born with mental challenges, Paul’s gift for connecting with people gave him many true friends. The town of Ansonia watched over him these many years, allowing him to live independently, which was always his desire. Thank you. The family is grateful for all the many kindnesses shown Paul over his lifetime.
Services will be private for family only.
