Paul Stephen Hassler

Paul Stephen Hassler, 85, of Seymour, entered into rest on March 10, 2011 at his home. 

He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Adele Joan (Borkowski) Hassler. 

Mr. Hassler was born in Derby on August 20, 1925 son of John and Susan (Jescuso) Hassler. He was a 1942 graduate of Ansonia High School. He was a Connecticut State Trooper and a Resident Trooper for the Town of Bethany, Troop I until his retirement in 1984. 

He was a WWII Veteran in the Merchant Marines and later served in the Korean War with the US Army. Paul was also assigned to the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office. 

He was a member of the New Haven Football Official’s Assoc., the Valley Umpire’s Assoc. and David S. Miles American Legion Post 174, Oxford, as well as a lifetime member of the Charter Hose Co. #4 in Ansonia.

In addition to his wife Adele, Paul leaves his devoted son, Paul S. Hassler, Jr. and his wife Diane, of Oxford, and his devoted daughter, Alexandra Lexi” Saksa, of Shelton; three grandchildren, John Paul Saksa, Heather Hassler, and Daniel Hassler and several nieces and nephews. 

His son-in-law, John Saksa, two brothers, Lawrence and Raymond Hassler and a sister, Lillian Knell predeceased him.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 at the Ralph Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church Street, Seymour. Interment to follow with Military Honors will in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Derby. 

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
