Pauline A. Sampieri

Pauline A. Sampieri, 85, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 7, 2015, at River Glen Health Care in Southbury.

Mrs. Sampieri was born in Lackawanna, PA on June 17, 1930, daughter of the late Michael and Agnes Fitzsimmons Payzer. She was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Eastman Dental School for Dental Hygienists in Rochester, N.Y. In 1988, she earned her B.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport and in 1990 obtained her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Human Resources Development also from the Univ. of Bridgeport. She was employed as a dental hygienist in private practice and later for the City of Derby and City of Bridgeport. She retired from the State of Connecticut Department of Health Services in the Dental Health Section and Preventable Disease Division. She was a proud Parliamentarian for the American Dental Hygienist’s Assoc. from 1986 – 2006.

Pauline was an avid bowler where she served as President of the New Haven Women’s Bowling Assoc. and CT Women’s Bowling Assoc. and Director of the CT State Bowling Council. Pauline was very active in the City of Ansonia serving as an Alderman from 1991 to 1995 and Chairman of the Democratic Town Committee from 1998 until 2010. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia where she was an active participant in many of the groups, functions and events and Chairman of the Activities Committee at the Doyle Senior Center in Ansonia from 1998 until 2008. 

She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Patricia Sampieri and her husband Scott Powers of Bethlehem, loving extended family, Peter and Ann Weitzler and Billy and Laura Weitzler, very dear friends, Madeline Bottone, Mary Burleigh, James Hubbard, Jo-Lynn Flaherty and numerous other friends.

Visiting hours will take place on Monday August 10, 2015, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, her funeral will be held at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will then follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
