Peter G. Dybas, age 85, passed onto the Lord on Monday, January 11, 2021, at his home, after a brief illness (non Covid related). He was the husband of Barbara Swantek Dybas.
He was the son of the late George and Mary Ann Barnash Dybas. He grew up around Legion Avenue, best place to live according to him. Peter was an accomplished accordionist and appeared on the Ted Mack show at the age of 12. He then went on to form a 14-piece Polka Band. Along with his father, Peter was the owner and operator of D&D Manufacturing, a secondary machine shop.
He was a devout member of St. Joseph Church in Ansonia where he was a member of its Men’s Club and volunteered for over 20 years at their marathon bingo held at Warsaw Park. Peter was also a member of the Ansonia Senior Center. In 2015 Peter received the St. Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation at a presentation by the Archbishop of Hartford, Leonard Blair.
At Christmas he was the center of attention playing the organ while his extended family gathered around him. God gave him the “gift of gab” which allowed him to build many lasting friendships. Peter and his wife traveled extensively visiting 13 countries. They received a blessing from Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s Square and they rode a camel in Egypt.
In addition to his wife, Peter leaves to cherish his memory two loving sons, Wayne Dybas (Patty) and David Dybas, a granddog, Bijou and cousins and friends.
