Peter Joseph Siraco, age 89, retired Shelton Chief of Police entered into rest on Tuesday September 25, 2012 in Sebastian River Medical Center, FL. He is the devoted husband of Cordelia Ellis Siraco.
Mr. Siraco was born in Derby October 30, 1922 son of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Scermina) Siraco and was a Shelton resident for most of his life until moving to Barefoot Bay, FL 25 years ago. He served his country in the US Army as a Corporal, and was a former member of the Highland Golf Club in Shelton. His 33 year career as a police officer in Shelton began in 1956 when he was sworn in as a Supernumerary Police Officer, he ascended the ranks and in 1978 was installed as Chief of Police until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Connecticut Retired Chiefs of Police Association and the Sutter Terlizzi American Legion Post #16 in Shelton.
He is the beloved father of Lois Jane Siraco,and Pasquale S. Siraco, and his wife Debra. He is the loving brother of Anthony Siraco, Frances Russo, Edith Caplik, and Anne Jemioto. He also leaves his cherished grandson Jared Siraco, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers Pasquale Siraco, and Joseph Siraco, and a sister Carmella Harbort, and 3 infant siblings.
Friends may greet his family on Friday from 4 to 7 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home 390 River Road Shelton. On Saturday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Joseph Church Shelton. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Mt.St. Peter Garden Mausoleum Derby.
