Peter Ranno Jr., an 87 year old Naugatuck resident and husband to Helen Watrous Ranno, entered into eternal rest June 10, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 22, 1934 in Derby, son of the late Peter R. Ranno Sr. and Evelyn Alcott Ranno. Peter was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a production planner for Sikorsky Aircraft for 40 years.
He was a member of The Church at Hemlock Farms and an active member of the church Men’s Club. He enjoyed singing in a barbershop singing group. He was an avid sports fan, following the N.Y. Giants & Yankees.
He also played softball with the A.M. Club in Derby and was an ardent wood worker.
He was a devoted grandfather and assiduously communicated with one of his grandsons in sign language. In addition to his wife, he leaves three daughters Patricia Leonard-Tomassetti (Gary) of Southington, Pamela Tylinski (Richie) of Ansonia and Susan Evancho (Michael) of Oxford, his sister Beverly Tidmarsh (Fred) of Ansonia, by longtime friend Robert Allan, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Robert and sister Elizabeth Murray. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to The Congestive Heart Failure Clinic at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport.
