Philomena “Fannie” Schippani

Philomena Fannie” Schippani, age 95 of Hamden, formerly of Seymour, passed away April 20, 2014 at Highland Health Care Center, Cheshire.

Philomena was born in New Haven, August 28, 1918, daughter of the late Salvatore and Vincenzia (Dell’Ina) Amendola.

She worked as a seamstress at Sero Shirtmakers, New Haven for many years until her retirement.

She loved to play the piano, and also gardening and crocheting in her free time.

She is survived by her son, James Schippani of Hamden; her brother-in-law Frank Simeone, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and their spouses, Alexander (Rose) Amendola, and Gennaro (Helen) Amendola; her sisters Mary Russo‑D’Agostino (Stephen) and Anna Simeone.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM in Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial in Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour. The James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton has been entrusted with arrangements.
