Phyllis A. Mancini Tarini, 78, of Derby, entered into peaceful rest on Sunday morning, April 3, 2011, at the Griffin Hospital in Derby, surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness. In recent years, she fought a courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her former husband, Harold A. Tarini.
Mrs. Tarini was born in Derby on Dec. 6, 1932, daughter of the late Ralph and Fannie DelVecchio Mancini. She was employed by the W.E. Bassett Co. in Derby until her retirement. She was a communicant of the St. Mary’s Church in Derby and a member of it’s Legion of Mary. She also participated in St. Mary’s weekly visit to Birmingham Health Center in Derby to pray the Rosary. Phyllis was also a volunteer in the office of St. Mary’s‑St. Michael’s School.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Fuoco and her husband Vincent of Cheshire and Dawn LaBaire and her husband Joseph of Seymour, a son, Alan Tarini of Seymour and his companion Diane Siwek-Persico, a sister, Carm Vinchinski of Scottsdale, AZ, a brother, Ralph Mancini of Newtown, four cherished and adored grandchildren, Matthew, Jill, Nicole, and Christopher, two great-granddaughters, Gianna & Taylor and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sadly missed by all. In addition to her former husband, Phyllis was predeceased by brothers, Philip, John, Joseph, and Bernard Mancini.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday April 5, 2011, at 11:00 am at the St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth St. in Derby, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will immediately follow in New St. Bridget Cemetery in Cheshire. Visiting hours will be held on TUESDAY MORNING from 9:00 am until the procession leaves for church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Griffin Cancer Center through the funeral home.
