Phyllis A. Spak, an 85 year old Oxford resident and wife of Andrew Spak, entered into eternal rest at home, surrounded by her family on Aug. 11.
She was born Feb. 12, 1939 in Derby, daughter of the late John and Gertrude Rosen Kichar. She worked as a nurse for Griffin Hospital, The Lutheran Home in Southbury and Shady Knoll Rehab in Seymour. She was a very active member of St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Oxford.
In addition to her husband Andrew, she leaves her sons, Andrew (Wendy) Spak of Oxford, James (Theresa) Spak of North Brookfield, N.Y., and David (Suzanne) Spak of Orange, her daughter Robyn (Elder) Esteves of Oxford, her brothers John Kichar of Ansonia and David Kichar of California, her sisters Gertrude Pertoso and Carol Gabianelli, both of Florida, grandchildren Beth Ann (Danny) Ramos, Alissa Spak, Alanna Zunski, Nicholas, Marcus & Alexandra Esteves, Ashley (Josh) Bossie & Zachary (Kayla) DeBisschop, great grandchildren Sofia Grace Ramos, Jack & Arlo Bossie and Payton, Aaron, Caleb & Archer DeBisschop and Phyllis’s beloved dog Bella.
Phyllis was our Rock and a Beautiful Soul all around to everyone she knew and met. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 23rd at 12:00 NOON from St. Thomas The Apostle Church of Oxford. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. before Mass. Burial will be private. The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia has been privileged with arrangements. The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to Hospice RN Donna Kelly for the time and the care she gave to Phyllis.
