Ralph P. Ponzo

Ralph P. Ponzo, age 80, entered into eternal rest on January 16, 2021, at Bridgeport Hospital. He was the devoted husband for 55 years to his spouse and best friend, Sylvia Fuoco Ponzo.

Ralph was born in New Haven on July 12, 1940, son of the late Vincent and Josephine Juliano Ponzo. For 45 years, Ralph was the owner and operator of Excelente for Hair in Branford where he was a Barber and Hair Stylist. Ralph attended Hair Academy school in London which was taught by Vidal Sassoon. He loved to cook for his family and friends, and his best dish was his eggplant parmesan. Trips to the casino for sporting events or just entertainment were always fun for Ralph. He enjoyed horse racing and annual trips to Saratoga and you could always find him watching the stock market closely.

Ralph was a great conversationalist. He always listened to people and gave his point of view on many topics. He and his granddaughter shared a love for the game of basketball and Ralph was proud to see her excel at the sport. Ralph always encouraged his daughter to never give up and to always pursue her hopes and dreams, and to never lose sight for the love and trust in God. Ralph enjoyed his daily conversations with his brother.

In addition to his wife Sylvia, Ralph leaves to cherish his memory a loving daughter, Gina Marie McKay of Derby, a granddaughter Angelina M. McKenna of Derby, a brother, Charles Ponzo (Theresa) of San Carlos, CA, a sister, Frances Nigro of Bristol, niece and nephews, Christopher and Jennifer Ponzo of San Carlos, CA, and Jonathan Ponzo of Redwood City, CA
