Raymond J. Veillette, age 87, of Derby entered into rest on Wednesday January 16, 2019 in the Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband Yolande (Bellemare) Veillette for 63 years. He was born in Shawnigan Falls, Canada on August 15, 1931 the son of the late Alonzo and Penelope (Racine) Veillette.
Ray was an electrician for many years at the former B.F. Goodrich before finishing his career in the maintenance department at VanDusen-Meyer of Shelton. He loved spending time hunting, fishing and shooting target practice. He enjoyed watching the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, going on trips to the casino and visiting relatives in Vermont and Canada. Ray was also very handy and known as a jack of all trades who was always willing to help out family and friends with various projects.
He is survived by his children Suzanne Reilly and her husband Steven, Raymond Veillette and his wife Lori, Denise Veillette, Jacques Veillette and his wife Geralyn, Andre Veillette and his wife Maria and Paul Veillette, his grandchildren Raymond Veillette, Sarah Veillette, Joshua Emerich, Michael Arroyo, David Arroyo, Jessica Arroyo and Gail Veillette, 9 great grandchildren, his sister-in-law Cecile Veillette, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Jean-Paul and Robert, and by his sisters Rolande McManus, Irene Meunier, Therese Moreau and Rita St. Pierre.
Friends are invited to greet Ray’s family on Monday January 21 from 4 to 7 pm in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street Derby.
On Tuesday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 am for his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Parish St. Mary Campus, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby.
