Raymond W. Santore, 76, of Ansonia, beloved husband of Joyce Severino Santore, entered into peaceful rest on February 18, 2011, at Griffin Hospital.
Mr. Santore was born in Derby on April 7, 1934, son of the late Philip and Josephine Rossi Santore. A resident of Derby until moving to Ansonia in 1956, he was the owner of the former Ray’s Barber Shop in Ansonia and later was a barber at the Capitol Barber Shop in Ansonia. He was also employed at the American Brass in Ansonia. Ray was an avid golfer, playing each day at the Hopbrook Golf Course in Naugatuck. In his earlier years, he was an umpire and a referee throughout the area and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
In addition to his wife Joyce, he is survived by 2 sons, Brian J. Santore of Maui, Hawaii and Mark Santore and his wife Teresa of North Haven, a daughter, Cheryl Segaline and her husband Gene of West Haven, a sister, Gloria Badamo and her husband Carl of Ansonia, 7 cherished grandchildren, Pualei Santore of HI, Lindsay Dodge of Meriden, David Segaline of West Haven, Amanda and Samantha Santore of North Haven, Gene Segaline III of Wallingford, and Michael Segaline of SC, a great-granddaughter, Jenna Feitel, a great-grandson Gene Segaline IV, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Philip Santore Jr. and a sister Theresa Hawks.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at 10:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Burial with U.S. Navy honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 7 pm.
