Reverend Kathy Ann Faber, 61, of Somers, beloved wife for over 23 years of Reverend Wayne A. Strever, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25, 2023, with Wayne and their loving daughter, Nancy Strever, at her side.
Kathy was born and raised in Shelton, CT, one of three children of the late Emil and Nancy (Hamilton) Faber and was a graduate of Shelton High School. She earned her associate’s degree in recreation studies and bachelor’s degree in sociology/human services from Eastern Connecticut State University, her master’s degree in counseling from Southern Connecticut State University, and her master’s degree in divinity from Yale University.
Kathy began her career at the Lower Naugatuck Valley Mental Health Shelter, where she was a program director for six years and worked as a children’s and victim’s advocate and counselor. She then decided to pursue ministry to help people further. After receiving her M.Div., she was ordained as a minister and served as pastor at Clinton Congregational Church in Clinton, MA, Second Congregational Church in Manchester, and later at Enfield Congregational Church. She was a dedicated, patient, and kind person. Her calling as a minister was very important to her and serving her congregation was a priority as well as being a loving and dedicated spouse and mother.
Kathy, along with her family, loved traveling around the world, skiing, and spending time at the beach and the family pool. Kathy’s greatest joy was her loving daughter, Nancy, whom she loved very deeply and cared about above all else. She was consistently supportive of Nancy throughout her life and made sure to attend every sports game, concert, and recital of her youth.
In addition to her husband, Wayne, and loving daughter Nancy, Kathy leaves her two brothers, William Faber of Shelton and Glenn Faber of Raleigh, NC, and their families.
At the request of her family, her service will be private. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to: The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services, a program of BHcare, located in Shelton, CT.
