Richard F. Cody, age 84, beloved husband of Faye Childs Cody for 64 years and resident of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest March 27.
He was born April 21, 1929 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Michael and Esther Lyons Cody.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he worked as a systems analyst for Nationwide Insurance. Richard was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia and a 64-year member and Past Captain of the Charter Hose Fire Co. in Ansonia. He also served on Ansonia Zoning Board of Appeals, and coached basketball and farm team baseball for the Recreation Department for 30 years. Richard loved to golf and bowl, and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan.
In addition to his wife Faye, he leaves to cherish his memory his son Richard M. Cody and wife Jennifer of Farmington, CT, four daughters, Shaye Sheehan and husband Mark of Southbury, Debi Hawks of Ansonia, Colleen Marsh and husband Ron of Ansonia, Kathleen Cody of Beacon Falls, and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by her sister Joan Velms and son in law Thomas Hawks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. at The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Friends are asked to go directly to church, where military honors will also be rendered. Burial will be private.
