Richard F. “Dick” Scollin, age 91, of Seymour entered into rest on Monday, October 12, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 25 years to Mary (Purcell) Scollin. Dick was born in Bridgeport on August 25, 1929 son of the late Victor E. and Gladys (Whitney) Scollin.
He was a plant manager for many years until his retirement. Dick proudly served with the US Air Force during Korea. He loved his family and country, he marched in the Memorial parade with the Catholic War Veterans Club for many years. Dick was well loved by his family and friends. Up until last year you could find him at the Catholic War Veterans Club on his stool (first stool) on a Saturday.
Dick was the beloved father of Maureen Scollin, Debbie Eye, Kathy Petito, John Scollin and William Scollin, and step father of Colleen Purcell, brother of Peggy Hemphill and her husband John, brother-in-law of James Purcell and his wife Pat, Joyce Purcell and Karen Purcell. Dick was the loving grandfather of Amber, Erika and seven grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves his beloved Sun Conair Calie. He was predeceased by a daughter Nancy Scollin, a son Richard Scollin and a brother Victor Scollin, Jr.
Friends are invited to his graveside service on Thursday at 12:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery, 308 River Rd. Shelton.
