Richard Gerard Kastens, age 90, of Shelton entered into rest on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the Griffin Hospital with his loving family by his side.
He was the devoted husband of the late Shirley Ann Malino Kastens. Richard was born in Bridgeport on May 25, 1934 son of the late Henry Walter and Anna Mae (Barrett) Kastens.
Richard loved to work. He owned and operated a real estate management company for many years and was also a mechanic. Richard was an avid traveler, magician and enjoyed snowmobiling and white water rafting. He loved dogs. Richard fostered and rescued dogs which he often ended up adopting himself.
He was the beloved father of Sharyl Ann Kastens, Laurel Lee Toal, Lisa Marie Tobin and her husband Dennis (Denny), loving Pop Pop of Brittany Leanne, Kyle Richard, Geoffrey and Christopher and great grandfather of Natalie and companion of Linda Wilson. He was predeceased by Geraldine Cortina, Robert Henry Kastens (Uncle Bob).
Friends may call on Sunday January 12, 2025 from 2 to 4 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Monday, January 13, 2025 his funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery Chapel, 219 New Haven Ave., Derby.
