Richard James Harkins Sr., age 88, a former longtime Ansonia resident currently of Oxford, entered into eternal rest June 14, two weeks before his sixtieth anniversary with wife Clara Laskowski Harkins.
He was born August 16, 1922 in Indiana Pennsylvania, son of the late William & Jean St. Clair Harkins.
He worked as a Machinist for Farrel Corp. until retiring in 1978 and was a member of the Farrel Old Timers Club.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.
In addition to his wife Clara, he leaves two daughters, Diane Krutoholow & her husband Peter of Oxford, with whom he resided, and Jean Mucciacciaro & her husband Mario of Watertown CT, three grandchildren, Peter Krutoholow of Hamden, Elizabeth Krutoholow of N.Y.C. & Melissa Kirk of Illinois and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his son Richard James Harkins Jr., brother William Harkins & sisters Anna Jacoby, Emma Smith, Margaret Gonyer & Avonelle Kelly.
Funeral services were held privately in the funeral home. He was buried in the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery.
