Richard M. Spader, age 73, husband of 47 years to the late Linda Spader and resident of Oxford, entered into eternal rest at home on May 6.
He was born Jan. 6, 1942 in Ansonia, son of the late George & Elizabeth (Pirint) Spader.
He was a graduate and class president of Ansonia’s Pine High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1965. Richard worked as a carpenter and was a retired member of Carpenters Union Local# 210.
He attended the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia and was a member of H.S.V. Bavaria German Club of West Haven, where he and Linda participated in their Schuhplattler’s dance group.
He leaves to cherish his memory his 2 sons, Richard M. Spader Jr & wife Michelle of Oxford and Erick M. Spader & wife Dawn of Kingston, N.Y., his brother Robert Spader of Hopkinsville, KY and 5 grandchildren Richie & Teresa of Oxford, and Nathan, Gabriel & Dominick of N.Y. He was predeceased by his brother George Spader III & sister Lillian Hunihan.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16th at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Burial will be private. Friends may call on Saturday at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, (www.jenkinskingfh.com) from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the funeral leaves for church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the family or to the family through the funeral home.
