On July 31, 2020, heaven opened its gates for a beautiful angel. Richard Michael Ciardi, age 18, lost his life as a result of a tragic motor vehicle accident.
Richard was born in Bridgeport Hospital on January 17, 2002, loving son to Richard and Susan (Dargenio) Ciardi of Derby. A lifelong resident of Derby, he was a recent honors graduate of Emmett O’Brien High School Class of 2020 where he studied Precision Machinery. There, he was a talented, stand-out soccer player earning the title of All-League player with the CIAC in his Senior year. Richard’s smile was infectious. He was gifted with the ability to make everyone laugh and smile and touched the hearts of everyone that had the great fortune of meeting him. When he was not working or playing on the soccer fields, he also enjoyed gaming and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard was employed at RAF Electronic Hardware in Seymour for the past two years, where he began his pre-apprenticeship with the State of CT while still a student. Upon graduation, Richard was then immediately hired as a screw machine operator, where he was continuing to learn and expand his knowledge and working towards his goal of completing his apprenticeship. He loved his job and all of his coworkers. It was truly his home away from home.
In addition to his parents, Susan and Richard, he leaves to cherish his memory, paternal grandmother, Carolyn Ciardi of Monroe, maternal grandmother, Diane Noel of Shelton, godmother and aunt, Susan Lakhal (Marc) of Monroe, uncle, Daniel Ciardi (Marcy) of Waterbury, uncle and godfather, Michael Dargenio of Shelton, cousins, Adam Lakhal, Daniel and Angelina Ciardi and numerous friends.
The family is organizing and will announce a memorial for Richard in which everyone can attend, honor and celebrate his life. Burial will be private. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements.
