Robert A. Loda, 80, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on May 1, 2015, at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Theresa Santilli Loda.
Mr. Loda was born in Ansonia on August 19, 1934, son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Valentine Loda. He was a graduate of Ansonia High School in 1951, and attended Southern CT State University before serving in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge, he earned his Master’s Degree from Southern CT. He was employed as a speech pathologist for the Trumbull Board of Education until his retirement. Bob was an active communicant of Holy Rosary Church, where he was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, volunteer at the annual Italian Festa and former lector. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and UConn Basketball and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
In addition to his wife Theresa, he is survived by loving sons, Gregory R. Loda (Kati) of East Haven and Christopher J. Loda (Emily) of North Haven, a loving daughter, Maria T. Woodward (Tom) of North Branford, brothers, Frank Loda (Jeanne) of GA and Richard Loda (Laura) of VA, cherished grandchildren, Talia, Samuel, Julia, James, Stephen and Isabella Loda and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Dziekan.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015, from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, his funeral procession will gather at 9:15 am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
