Robert Achille

Robert Achille, 64, of Shelton entered into rest on Friday July 15, 2022 in Yale New Haven Hospital with his loving family by his side. 

He is the devoted husband of Margaret Vicidomino and shared an exceptionally loving life together. He was born at St Raphael Hospital in New Haven on Oct 24,1957. He is the son of the late Salvatore and Rose (Esposito) Achille and was a lifelong Shelton resident.

Bob was the Department Head of Machinery at Eli Whitney Technical School for over 10 years and also coached the Girls Volleyball team and led them to a Championship status. Bob was the owner and operator of Video 7 in Shelton and was very proud to be the longest running video store still open across the country. He was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Rams. Bob played slow pitch softball and was on state championship teams. 

He loved to play basketball and coordinated a weekly pickup game for many years which gave him the nickname The Commish” from everyone who played.

He is also survived by his beloved son Roman Achille who was the light of his life, sister Joanne Egan and her husband Michael, brother in law Joseph Vicidomino and his wife Laurel, Also his closest childhood friends John Barsevich, Mark Ciucta, Tom Turaj and John Ciarlante with whom Bob would meet on Sunday to play golf and enjoy each other company. 

Bob also had several very close cousins and nieces and nephews whom he adored. Heartfelt thanks to our family and friends for their prayers and support during Bob’s courageous battle.

Friends may call on Wednesday July 20, 2022 from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary Church, Derby. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery.
