Robert Carlin Burlison

Robert Carlin Burlison, a native of Shelton, entered into rest on March 10, 2013 at the Nevada State Veteran’s Home in Boulder City, NV.

Robert (Rock) attended Shelton public schools, joined the US Navy in 1942 on his 17th birthday and served in Squadron VT 44, assigned to the USS Langley, the first aircraft carrier built.

After he was discharged from the Navy he furthered his education, earning a degree from UConn and advanced degrees from UCLA, Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, and Pepperdine University; he taught at the Chiropractic College and in the California public schools where he was honored as Teacher of the Year. He lived and worked for many years in the Huntington section of Shelton as a practicing Chiropractic and Naturopathic Physician until his retirement.

Robert was a lifelong member of St. Lawrence Parish, the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department, and served as Chairman of the Republican Town Committee, Director of Civil Defense and as a member and Chairman of the Economic Development Commission. He was an active member of many civic and veteran groups, VFW, US Navy League, Langley Association, American Legion, as well as the Exchange Club, Knights of Columbus and others. 

He is survived by his loving wife Eileen Pastore Burlison, their son Attorney Robert C.Burlison, Jr of La Canada, CA and four grandchildren,USAF Captain Robert C. Burlison, III, Lee Burlison, Steven Burlison, and Joanna Burlison.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM in St. Lawrence Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton, CT 06484.
