Robert E. Hamel, age 89, peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2020, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband for sixty-eight years to Patricia Sullivan Hamel.
Mr. Hamel was born in East Boston, MA on December 1, 1930, son of the late Ludger and Fedora Oulette Hamel. A resident of Ansonia since 1956, he was employed as a tool & die maker at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for thirty years until his retirement. He honorably served in the U.S. National Guard earning the rank of Corporal. Robert was a black belt in Karate and also taught karate in Shelton and Ansonia High School in his earlier years. He was an avid salt water fisherman.
In addition to his wife Patricia, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, David R. Hamel (Maureen) of Woodbury, daughters, Susan Cirillo (Michael), Linda Sala and Deborah Redland of Virginia and Donna Hamel of Ansonia, brothers, Richard and Norman Hamel, a sister, Stella Martel, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Madeline Topkins.
