Robert E. Hayden, age 85, of Derby, entered into rest on Tuesday February 23, 2016 in Griffin Hospital.
He was the devoted husband of 61 years to Shirley (Wilkinson) Hayden.
He was born in Derby on July 18, 1930 and was a lifelong Derby resident.
Robert was employed for his first 16 years of his career at Shelton Basket Shop. He continued his career with Black and Decker for 31 years before his retirement.
He was an avid Derby High School Football Fan, and loved to fish and watching girls basketball.
He was the devoted father of Shirley Jean Hayden, Ronald Hayden and his wife Karen and Kathy DeLuca and her husband Albert, loving grandfather of Debbie and Shawn Hayden, Danielle Conte, Nick DeLuca and Steven Hayden, great grandfather of Joshua and Bria Hayden, brother of John Hayden and his wife Valerie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers Richard, Elmer and Donald Hayden and two sisters Isabel Joyce and Audrey Hayden.
Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral service at Oak Cliff Cemetery will be private.
