Robert E. DiMaio Sr., age 87, entered peaceful rest on December 27, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Carol Barker DiMaio for sixty years.
Robert was born in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late John and Jennie Savino DiMaio. A resident of Ansonia, CT since 1970, Robert was employed as a math teacher for Central High School in Bridgeport for thirty-five years. He later went on to work at Bridgeport Aquaculture Science and Technology Education Center before full retirement. During his teaching career, Robert was recognized for his accomplishments and was awarded Teacher of the Year. In his earlier years, Robert was an avid bowler. He enjoyed playing cards and watching sports, especially Mets baseball.
In addition to his wife Carol, Robert leaves to cherish his memory, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. DiMaio Jr. and Tracie DiMaio of Hamden, son, Ronald W. DiMaio of Meriden, loving daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. Severo and Anthony C. Severo of Lafayette, CA, grandchildren, Robert E. DiMaio, III of Hamden, Alex DiMaio and wife Alyssa of Milford, Kyle DiMaio of New Haven, Marcello Severo, Stefano Severo, and Leila Severo, all of Lafayette, CA and great-grandchild, Bea (Liam) DiMaio of Hamden, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Anthony, Vincent and Thomas DiMaio and sisters, Edith Swanson and Jasmine Watt.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 12:00 pm a funeral service in celebration of Robert’s life will take place with Reverend Jeffery Gubbiotti officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
