Robert Ernest Shelton

Robert Ernest Shelton, a lifelong Connecticut resident, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Derby at the age of 76. 

Born on September 7, 1948, in Shelton, Connecticut, Robert was the son of the late Wilbert and Mary (Szpak) Shelton. 

He built his life and career in the communities he called home, becoming a familiar and friendly face to many over the years. Robert dedicated more than three decades of service to Duchess in Ansonia, where he became affectionately known as the hot dog man.” 

His long-standing presence behind the counter made him a local fixture. In addition to his time at Duchess, he also worked at Stop and Shop in Seymour, further demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to serving others. 

He shared 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife Patricia (Kuzma) Shelton. 

Together they raised three children: daughter Kimberley Shelton and her fiancé Robert Paine; sons Jason Shelton and Bryan Shelton. 

Robert also leaves behind his sister Rebecca Racine and her husband Andre; sisters-in-law Sandra Kuzma and Diane Kuzma; as well as several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. 

He was predeceased by his parents-in-law Stanley Sr. and Bertha (Tanner) Kuzma, and brother-in-law Stanley Kuzma Jr. Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him through his steady presence, dedication to family, and years of hard work within his community. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
