Robert F. Gallant, 88, of 29 Webster Drive died Wednesday at the Hewitt Memorial Hospital.
He is the husband of Margaret Hawley Gallant.
Born in Oxford, Mass. on June 30, 1921, son of the late Clement and Maria Daigle Gallant. He retired in 1981 as a driver and salesman for the former Table Talk Pies Co. of Stratford, giving them 25 years service.
A communicant of the Church of the Assumption, Eucharist Minister for seven years and for the last 25-years a good stewart to the church and school. He, along with his wife, has served numerous shelter meals in the church hall.
Survivors besides his wife include three daughters – Cynthia A. Gallant and Suzanne M. Gallant of Ansonia and Pamela J. Pero of Bethany – and one son, Gerald Gallant of Monroe.
Also, Robert left nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by 14 brothers and sisters.
Robert’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Bennett Funeral Home at 91 N. Cliff Street, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Assumption Church in care of the funeral home.
