Robert J. Wanagill, 85, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 23, 2017, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Marilyn “Pat” Moore Wanagill.
Mr. Wanagill was born in Ansonia on Sept. 18, 1932, son of the late William and Mary Babnis Wanagill. He graduated from Ansonia High School in 1950, where he served as class president and excelled on the football team. He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. In 1963, he and his wife moved to Seymour and in 1994 retired as an electronics engineer from Sikorsky Aircraft. Bob enjoyed being a physical education instructor at the Ansonia YMCA for many years.
In addition to his wife Pat, he is survived by a loving son, Robert A. Wanagill (Barbara) of Palm Bay, FL, a loving daughter, Cindy Dubey of Satellite Beach, FL, cherished grandchildren, Michael Dubey, Stacey Dubey (Jaime Abrams), Catherine Wanagill and Bobby Dubey, his constant, attentive, loving care-giver, great-granddaughter, Kendra, sister, Jean Oslin of FL and several nieces and nephews, especially, Dana Moore of Seattle, WA. He was predeceased by a brother, William Wanagill and a sister, Helen Zelem.
Visiting will be held on Friday Sept. 29, 2017, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver St. in Ansonia. At 10:40 am, his funeral will process to St. Joseph Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Inurnment with US Navy military honors will immediately follow in St. Michael Cemetery in Derby.
