Robert J. Lombardi Sr., age 90, entered into peaceful rest on November 1, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of sixty-two years to the late Genevieve Malerba Lombardi.
Robert was born in Derby on October 2, 1932, son of the late Michael and Anna Esposito Lombardi. A lifelong resident of Derby, Robert was employed as an electrician at Schick Razor/Warner Lambert in Milford until his retirement. A proud Veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Darby during the Korean War. Robert was a lifelong member and the oldest, current serving member of Paugassett Hook and Ladder Company #4 in Derby. He was also a member of the American Legion in Derby. Robert enjoyed tending to his yard and trips to the casino. He was a family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was an avid fan of the New York Giants and UCONN basketball.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Laura Jean Schroeter (George “Skip”) of Ansonia, granddaughter, Tricia Kevalis (Martin) of Seymour, grandson, Christopher Lombardi (Alyssa) of Maine, great-grandchildren, Allie and AJ Kevalis and Dominic Lombardi, step-grandchildren, Melissa Schroeter of Branford and Allan Schroeter (Cathy) of East Haven, step-great-grandchildren, Amanda Schroeter of Rocky Hill, Hailey Seay of Bridgeport and Michael Silva of Branford, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Lombardi Jr., brothers, Michael, James, Jerry and John Lombardi, sisters, Josephine Esposito, Ann Kross and Camile Tierney.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, November 5, 2022, all are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at 9:30 am at St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Avenue in Derby. Interment with U.S. Navy military honors will immediately follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
