Robert J Selick, age 87, of Spring, TX, formally of Seymour, CT entered into rest on March 29, 2025 with his family by his side.
Born in Derby, Connecticut on September 22,1937, he was the son of the late Walter Selick and Gertrude Walters Selick Wagner.
Robert was a graduate of Ansonia High School and served in the United States Navy. He was a postman in Ansonia and went on to work multiple roles within Exxon Mobile leading to his retirement in Houston, Texas.
He was a devoted and loving husband to his late wife, Janet Selick.
They were married for 65 years.
Robert is survived by his children Robert Selick, Nancy Johnson (Erich), Gretchen Selick, and Susan Matias (Ernesto).
His grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Stephen, Colleen, Scott (Brooke), Melissa (Liz), Paul, Christina and 8 great grand children. He is also survived by his brother Raymond Wagner of Orange, CT.
Robert was a huge baseball fan. He loved watching Astros games with his family.
Robert was also a huge animal lover and strongly supported the ASPCA. He was a devout Catholic.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11 AM.Robert’s burial will take place at the Houston National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 10:30 in the morning.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local ASPCA.
Janet Alice Selick, age 87, from Klein, Texas passed away March 20, 2025.
Jan was born December 26, 1937, in Derby, Connecticut and was the daughter of the late Frank Grabowski and Stella Pronyszyn.She was a graduate of Seymour High School in Seymour, CT, class of 1955.
She then went to obtain her Bachelors, Masters, and six-year teaching certificate at Southern Connecticut State University. She went on to a long teaching career, teaching in Beacon Falls CT, Seymour CT and finally retiring from Aldine ISD in Houston TX in 2006.
Jan was married to her husband, Robert, for 65 years. She was survived by children Robert Selick, Nancy (Erich) Johnson, Gretchen Selick, and Susan (Ernesto)Matias; grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Stephen, Colleen, Scott (Brooke), Melissa (Liz), Paul, Christina, and 8 great grandchildren.
Jan was an avid traveler and enjoyed traveling and especially cruising with old and new friends.
She was a woman of deep faith and a devout Catholic. Some of the family’s most treasured memories of Jan was time spent at the Saint Ignatius fall festival.
She was a huge dachshund fan adopting two from Dream Dachshund rescue. Her summer evenings were spent cheering on her favorite team the Houston Astros.
