Mr. Robert John Love, age 88, beloved husband of 67 years to Dorothy Elizabeth (Matthews) Love, of Bethany, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on April 5, 1922 in Derby to the late Robert James and Ellen Emma (Windisch) Love. Mr. Love was a U.S. Army Air Corp. veteran of WWII. Upon graduation from Pine High School in Ansonia, he entered the apprentice program at the Farrel Birmingham Company (now Farrel Corporation) in Ansonia where he worked for 45 years, retiring as Manager of Production Engineering. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Bethany and a member of the Bethany Athletic Association and the Farrel Old Timer’s Club.
In addition to Mr. Love’s loving wife, he leaves two devoted children, Robert Miles Love and his wife Linda of Seymour and Elizabeth Snyder and her husband Thomas of Bethany. He also leaves four grandchildren, Jeffrey Love and his wife Ronni of Southport, Amanda Campbell and her husband Brian of Waynesboro, VA, Kimberly Love of Philadelphia, PA and Ashley Snyder of Bethany as well as four great grandchildren, Johnathan, Ryan, Caity, and Benjamin. He also leaves a brother Richard Love and his wife Shirley of Waterford and numerous nieces and nephews. His four brothers and sisters, Mary Gooch, Edward Love, Jean Correale and William Carl Love predeceased him.
