Robert M. Hodges, age 83, entered eternal rest on June 10, 2024, at the West Haven VA Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Barbara R. Wilt Hodges.
Robert was born in Scranton, PA on June 14, 1940, son of the late James and Elizabeth Probert Hodges. He was a resident of Derby for sixty years. A retired machinist, Robert was employed at Sargent Manufacturing in New Haven, having previously worked at Carpenter Steel in Bridgeport.
A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. Robert was an active member of River Valley Baptist Church in Ansonia. He was a talented woodworker who enjoyed and taught bird carving and making decoys. Robert was also a decorative painter who shared his talents with others.
In addition to his wife Barbara, Robert leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Koleen L. Kerski (Doug) of Prospect, son, Kurt M. Hodges (Adina) of Oxford, grandchildren, Richard Merly (Christina) of Prospect, Ashley Hodges of Oxford, Austin Hodges (Karolina) of Chicago, IL, Alexa Bagley (Chayton) of Durham, NC and Alyssa Hodges of Oxford, great-grandchildren, Ember and Leiland Merly along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, James Hodges and his sister, Elizabeth Copelman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Celebration of Life service on Friday June 21, 2024, at 6:30 pm, at River Valley Baptist Church, 355 Main Street in Ansonia. The doors to the church will open at 6:00 pm. Burial will be private. A repast will immediately follow in the church hall.
