Robert Page Searles Sr., age 77, peacefully entered into eternal rest on November 29, 2018, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joan Polizzi Searles.
Mr. Searles was born in Derby on November 24, 1941, son of the late Clark and Violet Smith Searles. A lifelong resident of Derby, he was employed as a supervisor in the Manufacturing Engineering Dept. at Sikorsky Aircraft for forty-one years, until his retirement in 2004. He was currently working part-time at Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange, a job he truly enjoyed.
A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era aboard the USS Albert T. Harris and USS Compton. An avid golfer, he was a member of Hop Brook Golf Course in Naugatuck where he served as C.S.G.A. club rep. He was also a member of the American Legion, National Assoc. of Destroyer Veterans, (Tin Can Sailors), and a loyal and devoted fan of UConn Women’s Basketball and the 2018 World Champion Boston Red Sox.
In addition to his wife Joan, he leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Robert P. Searles Jr. of Shelton and Richard Searles (Lisa) of Seymour, grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Austen and Matthew Searles, brother, Harold “Bud” Searles (Ann) of Southbury, sister, Deborah Foy (Chuck) of Callao, VA, sisters in law, Madeline Baklik (Andrew) of Derby and Joanne Marino (Gino Marulli) of Ansonia and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a beloved daughter in law, Grace Paoletti Searles.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday December 2, 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Monday, relatives and friends are invited to meet directly at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with US Navy military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
