Ronald J. Garofolo, age 76, passed away on Saturday morning, August 18, 2018, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Patricia Wallace Garofolo.
Ron was born in Derby on June 19, 1942, son of the late John and Christine Liberti Garofolo. A lifelong resident of the Ansonia community, he was a graduate of Ansonia High School and Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Ron was employed as a manufacturing engineering supervisor for Perkin-Elmer/Goodrich for 38 years and displayed an unprecedented work ethic. He had an exciting career working on the Hubbell Space Telescope and the Hexagon Reconnaissance Satellite Program. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during Vietnam. Ron was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and a member of the Catholic Men’s Club. He was also a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and hiking.
In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Ronald G. Garofolo (Annaliese) of Derby, daughters, Sharlene Kehlenbeck (William) of Orange and Denise Lauer (Richard) of Seymour, a sister, Darlene Matejek of Wallingford, cherished grandchildren, Ronnie and Christopher Garofolo, Kristen, Emily and Chloe Kehlenbeck and Kaitlyn and Sarah Lauer, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and beloved Shih Tzu Minglei. Ron was the true patriarch of his family and will be dearly missed.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 21, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, his funeral will begin at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment with U.S. Navy military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
