Ronald T. Chirgwin, age 77, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 17, 2017, at Griffin Hospital. He was the beloved husband of fifty-two years to Rosalie DeCarli Chirgwin.
Mr. Chirgwin was born in Ansonia on Nov. 9, 1940, son of the late Donald and Gertrude Walsh Chirgwin. He was raised in Ansonia and moved to Derby in 1968. Ron was a dedicated employee of the Town of Orange, Dept. of Public Works for thirty-two years, where he also served as safety officer. He was past president of the AFSCME Union. Ron loved cars, took great pride in his job and enjoyed gardening, plowing snow, traveling and especially spending time with his loving family including the twenty-year tradition of attending the Big E with his daughter and family, where they shared many great memories.
In addition to his wife Rosalie, he is survived by a son, John W. Chirgwin (Lori Ann Young) of Pompano Beach, FL, a daughter, Susan E. Masella (Louis) of West Haven, a brother, David J. Chirgwin (Laurie) of Seymour, sisters, Joan C. Sweet (Charles) of Ansonia and Lois Brozek (Allan) of Oxford, cherished grandchildren, Pamela, Dominic and Nico Masella and Craig, Samantha, Meghan, Ciara and Catalina Chirgwin, great-grandchildren, Brody, Brie and Brock Chirgwin and Michael Masella and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Donald Chirgwin.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 21, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 7:00 pm, a funeral service in celebration of Ron’s life will take place with Rev. Leonard Kvedas officiating. Burial will be private.
