Rosalia Valenti

Rosalia Valenti, age 86, of Ansonia, entered eternal rest on Thanksgiving morning, November 23, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital Vitas Hospice in Waterbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Filippo Valenti.

Rosalia was born in Benghazi, Libya on December 13, 1936, daughter of the late Ignazio and Anna Catalano Mari. She immigrated to the United States from Palermo, Sicily, Italy in February of 1969. She was employed as a machine operator for R & R Manufacturing in Seymour for many years, until her retirement. Rose was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church. She enjoyed dinner dances at the Sons of Italy in Derby and watching Italian TV. Her hobbies included playing bingo, solving crossword puzzles and crocheting.

Rose leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Rosario Valenti of Bridgeport, a daughter, Francesca Hyman (Ben) of Naugatuck, grandchildren, Ryan Valenti, Timothy Davis, Cody Valenti (Alyssa), Carissa Rose and Jacob Hyman, great-grandchildren, Sofia and Amelia Valenti, best friend, Maria Grazia Mazzacco (Nicholas) of Ansonia, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Gaetano Mari and her sister, Lina DiSanto.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Tuesday November 28, 2023, from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. Her funeral procession will then leave for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow in Mount Saint Peter Cemetery in Derby.
