Rose J. Keller

Rose J. Keller, age 95, of Derby entered into rest on Friday August 5, 2016 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Paul Keller. She was born in Shelton on March 11, 1921 the daughter of the late Andrew and Theresa (Pascuzzo) Brancucio. 

Rose graduated St. Mary’s School in 1934 and Derby High School in 1938. She was employed as a secretary for the Ferry and Ripton Schools in Shelton before her retirement in 1979. Following her retirement, she moved to Venice, Florida but decided to stay busy by working at General Development. She spent 21 years in Florida before deciding to move back to Derby. 

Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Prayer Shawl Ministry,St. Mary’s Ladies Guild and was a volunteer at the Derby Neck Library. She was awarded the Golden Treasurer Award in 2007 from Valley United Way and in 2014 she was honored by St. Mary’s Grammar School as being the oldest living graduate. Her hobbies included reading, crochet and needle point, and cooking delicious meals for her family. 

She was the loving mother of Joyce Balusek-Sill and her husband Ronald, Joan Keller Longo and her husband Joseph, the beloved grandmother of Krista Rossetti and her husband Dana, Amy Baer and her husband Louis, and beloved step-grandmother of Jessica Soukup and her husband Sam, and Kimberly Sill, the adoring great grandmother of Christopher Rossetti, Isabella Rossetti, Alexa Rose Baer, and Robert Jack Baer, the adoring step-great grandmother of Carissa, Hannah, Samuel Jr., Alana, Destiny, and Sorayha, and the cherished aunt to several nieces and nephews, especially her namesake Roseann Breda. Rose was predeceased by her beloved son-in-law Robert J. Balusek, her brothers Joseph, Carmen, Peter, John, Michael, and Andrew Brancucio Jr., and her sister Josephine Didsbury. 

Friends may greet Rose’s family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street Derby, on Tuesday morning August 9, 2016 from 10:00 am to 11:30 AM. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church, 212 Elizabeth Street Derby, CT 06418, at 12 PM. Her burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery. 

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Church or St. Mary’s – St. Michael’s School,14 Seymour Avenue Derby, CT 06418 .
