Rose Marie Burke, age 85, wife of Lawrence “Mike” Burke and Ansonia resident, died Oct. 17.
She was born Sept. 26, 1931 in New Haven, daughter of the late John & Rose Hero Aveni. She worked for the former Peoples’ Store and Shapiro’s Jewelry store, both of Ansonia, until retirement. She enjoyed traveling, walks on the beach and spending time with her friends. She especially enjoyed her family and was a loving wife, mother and step mother.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her daughter Cynthia “Cyndi” Salerno of Ansonia, step daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Leng of West Haven, Uncle Carl Aveni of Ansonia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Aveni.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 21 at 10:00 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church, 47 Franklin St. Ansonia. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Friends may call on Thursday Oct. 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Jenkins King & Malerba Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St. Ansonia, CT.
