Roy M. Staehly, 93, of East Haddam, beloved husband of Jeanne (Kullberg) Staehly, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Chestelm Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Roy was born in New Haven, the son of the late Emil and Rose (Richards) Staehly. Roy and his brother owned an apple orchard. He enjoyed the outdoors and his vegetable garden. Roy was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army at the battle of the Bulge with the 11th Armored Division.
Besides his wife, Jeanne, Roy is survived by two daughters, Joan Durel and her husband Harold of Florida, Linda Staehly of Massachusetts, a son, Paul Staehly and his wife Jennifer of East Haddam, a sister, Carolyn Staehly of Orange, two grandchildren, Shannon Staehly of Cincinnati, OH and Mason Staehly of East Haddam. He was predeceased by a brother, Emil Staehly, and two sisters, Doris Shellman and Lorraine Ziman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Friends may gather prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
