Roy Welch

Roy Welch, 55, of North Port, FL entered into rest on Friday, May 30, 2014 in Port Charlotte, FL after a lengthy battle with cancer. He is the beloved son of Barbara (Dvorsky) Cornell of New Hampshire and the late Edward Welch.

Roy was born in Derby on June 23, 1958, and lived in Shelton and Tennessee before moving to Florida over 20 years ago. He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of St. Joseph Church in Shelton. Roy was a line cook in Florida and he loved and was very talented at baking.

He is the beloved brother of Frank Welch, Perry Willets, Pamela Welch, and Victoria Nolan. He is also survived by his step-father Donald Cornell Sr., two step-brothers, Donald Cornell Jr. and Benjamin Cornell, several nieces and nephews, and Fluffy, the family cat. Roy was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Blankshain.

Friends may call on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Tuesday, friends are invited to his memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. His burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford.
