Rufus F. “Fred” McMichael, 84 years old and husband to Laura Mae Smith McMichael, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on Oct. 2, in Ansonia.
He was born July 9, 1925 in Elliott, South Carolina, son of the late Mannie & Mary Richardson.
Rufus was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army and participated in the Battle Of The Bulge.
He worked at the former UNI Royal Company of Naugatuck for 37 years.
He was a member of the Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church in Ansonia where he also served on the Trustee Board, and was also a member of the James H. Wilkins Masonic Lodge of Ansonia.
In addition to his wife Laura, he is survived by his son Harold F. McMichael of Ansonia, his grandson Carl J. McMichael Jr. of Somers, Ct. & granddaughter Tia M. McMichael of New Haven. Rufus was predeceased by two sons, Murray & Carl McMichael Sr. and sisters Hattie & Willie Mae, and brother Jake McMichael.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, 11 a.m. from the Clinton A.M.E. Zion Church of Ansonia. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
