Russel R. Lang

Russel R. Lang, 83, of Seymour, passed away on December 28, 2021 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. Russel was born in West Allis, Wisconsin on August 30, 1938, son of the late Arnold and Mildred James Lang. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Douglas and Lawrence.

Russel received a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin (Platteville) and a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of New Haven. He worked for Raybestos Manhattan for several years, travelling to the Far East and Central America. He and his wife, Christine, started a catering business which fed many happy people for 35 years.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Christine (Yuska), after 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his four children: Caren, Anne and her husband John, Carl, and Scot.

Russel enjoyed singing barbershop harmony with the Valley Chordsmen in Waterbury and the Coastal Chordsmen in Trumbull. He was involved with the Barbershop Harmony Society for 54 years. He was an avid reader, a great Packers and Patriots fan, as well as a UCONN basketball fan. He loved a good joke and always made others laugh.

A Memorial Service in Celebration of Russel’s life will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street in Seymour. Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 6:30 p.m. All other services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Barbershop Harmony Society or the American Heart Association.
