Russell Peterson, 81 year old resident of Oxford and loving husband to Diane Peterson for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Bridgeport CT on Nov. 29, 1942, he grew up in Milford where he met his wife in 1958. In 1969 they moved to Oxford, where they raised their children. Russ worked in Sikorsky before leaving for basic training. He returned to Sikorsky briefly before working at the former Lea Mfg in Waterbury. Eventually he and his friend Bruno Perin started Modern Metal Finishing.
They were partners for 41 years and never once had an argument. Russ loved working on cars, driving his classic car and attending car shows. He also loved woodworking and created many beautiful items. His greatest treasure was his family, and his favorite moments were those spent with them. He always had an enormous smile during any family event.
Russ was always there to help family, friends, neighbors and perfect strangers. If you were in trouble, Russ was there.
In addition to his wife, those left to honor and cherish his memory include his son Richard Peterson, (Victoria) daughter Corrine Peterson-Gallagher, (David) granddaughters Natalie & Megan Peterson and grandson Ryan Peterson.
