Ruth Littlefield Atkins, age 84, of Seymour entered into rest on Monday March 24, 2025 in her home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Richard Atkins. She was born in Springfield, MA on June 28, 1940 daughter of the late Kenneth and Margaret (Miller) Littlefield and was a resident of Norwalk for most of her life until 5 years ago. Ruth was a Speech Therapist assistant for many years in the Norwalk School System before her retirement.
Ruth was a devoted family member who loved being with family and cherished friends. She loved to travel, hike, cook and camp in Damariascotta, Maine. Ruth and Dick were a wonderful pair who planned and participated in many events. They planned both Norwich University and Amity High School class reunions until Dick’s passing. Both were long time volunteers and coordinators at the Norwalk Oyster Festival.
She is the beloved mother of Debra Tucker and her husband Alan, Steven Atkins and his wife Chris, loving grandmother of Margaret Schroder and her husband Ethan, Kevin Tucker and his wife Alli, Patrick Tucker, Emily Tucker and her fiancee Carter Defigueiredo, Abigail Tucker, and Olivia Atkins, great grandmother of Scott Schroder and Theodore Schroder. She is also survived by John Littlefield and his wife Sue and several nieces and nephews and cousins, brother and sister in laws.
Her family will be hosting a memorial service to honor Ruth’s life in the Seymour Congregational Church, 45 Broad St. Seymour on Friday April 5, 2025 at 10:30 am.
